Electricity Aggregation Program

Acton Power Choice

The Town of Acton is developing a plan for an electricity aggregation program, which will be named Acton Power Choice. Electricity aggregation is a way for a community to use the bulk purchasing power of its residents and businesses to deliver more renewable energy more cost effectively than Eversource Basic Service, and to deliver the price stability that comes with a fixed contract.

How will it benefit me?

Acton Power Choice benefits include greener energy, choice, rate stability, and transparency. Acton will use a competitive bid process to choose an electricity supplier for the Town. The program will launch once the Town’s aggregation plan is approved by the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities. The target launch is early 2017.

Who is eligible to participate?

All Acton residents and businesses that currently receive Eversource Basic Service will be automatically enrolled in Acton Power Choice. Anyone who has already established a contract with their own electricity supplier will not be enrolled. Residents and businesses that do not wish to participate in Acton Power Choice will have the freedom to opt out of the program and remain with Eversource. After program launch, residents and businesses can continue to opt out at any time with no penalty.
