New Police Chief Appointed

Town Manager Steven Ledoux is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Burrows as Police Chief for the Town of Acton. Chief Burrows replaces former Chief Francis Widmayer III, who retired at the end of January 2017.


Chief Burrows has nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience, including 10 years as Deputy Chief in Tyngsborough and 4 years as Deputy Chief in Acton. He holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Massachusetts / Lowell and is a 2004 graduate of the FBI Academy.


Chief Burrow’s appointment is effective March 12, 2017.

Acton Awarded $400,000 for Complete Streets Program

The Town of Acton has been awarded a $400,000 grant to commence implementation of its Complete Streets program. Last year, the Town received National Recognition as the sixth best Complete Streets policy in the United States.
