Emergency Preparedness
The Town of Acton Health Department is launching efforts to ensure the safety of Acton residents in the event of a public health emergency. In order to prepare for an unexpected public health threat or an infectious disease outbreak like influenza or hepatitis A, the Health Department is working closely with health care professionals, the Police and Fire Departments, and community groups to develop emergency plans. Acton residents can play an important role in emergency preparedness.

Central Mass Mosquito Project to Spray in Acton on 9/11/2013:
Mosquitoes found in a trap near Simon Willard Road have tested positive for West Nile Virus. The Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project and the Acton Board of Health have determined that a proactive spraying program is warranted at this time. Spraying will occur on September 11th beginning at 7:30 PM.

All spraying is done with truck mounted sprayers. Residents are asked to go inside and shut windows for about 20 minutes if they see the spray truck approaching. For more information please call 508-393-3055 between 7 AM and 3:30 PM.
