The Governor’s office has released the following information in regards to COVID-19:
March 16, 2020
While the Acton Town Hall is closed to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 Virus Building permitting services will be available via phone, email & USPS mail
Permit applications are available on line at the building division web page
They can be printed out and mailed in with the appropriate fee to The Building Division 472 Main Street Acton MA 01720
When the review is complete and the permit is issued we will mail or email the permit to you
We recognize the need to balance the risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus and exposing high risk persons with inspections and the need to ensure the safety of buildings.
As of today we will inspect unoccupied buildings.
We will conduct inspections of occupied buildings on an emergency case by case basis. For example if an inspection is required by the utility in order for the electricity or gas to be turned on, we will conduct an inspection. We do ask in such cases that social distancing practices be used, for example do not have the inspector walk through the house to get to the basement. Our inspectors will use gloves and face masks for their protection and the protection of the occupants.
When the COVID-19 emergency has passed we will catch up on inspections. In the meantime leave any rough work open so that it may be inspected at a later date.
If you need to contact an Inspector we will be available by phone and email
As the COVID -19 emergency evolves and additional guidance is provided by the State and Federal Authorities we will be updating our policies. Please check with us on a daily basis for any new information.
We will make every effort to continue serve and assist you. Thank you for your patience during this time.
