The Fire Department will provide and install the alarms upon request. Please contact the Acton Council on Aging to sign up.

How to Schedule a Smoke Detector Inspection
Please call 978-264-9645, Monday through Friday between 7:30 & 9:00 a.m. on the day you would like the inspection done. You will set this up with whomever answers the line (this will be a dispatcher, so don’t be alarmed if they answer with a typical “911 - this line is being recorded” type of greeting). Let them know that you would like to schedule a smoke detector inspection. They will try to get someone out to inspect at some point that same day.
The cost of the inspection is $50 (cash, or check payable to Town of Acton), and is to be paid at the time of inspection. We do not charge you if it fails. If it fails, you will be advised as to the changes that need to be made and will have to schedule a re-inspection once those changes are complete.
A certificate will be issued upon payment & is valid for 60 days from the date of inspection.
Due to the nature of the Fire Department’s responsibilities, there are times when we may be unavailable to do inspections on the day you request them. Please call far enough in advance to allow for these circumstances.
