- Acton's EV Cruiser
The Acton Police Department is welcoming their first fully electric vehicle, a Ford Mustang Mach-E, which is replacing an internal combustion vehicle. The purchase was partly funded by a state MassEVIP Fleets grant. We’ve broken down the cost and greenhouse gas emissions savings of the new addition below. At least 3 MTCO2e is saved in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions every year and $1,200 is saved in annual operating costs.

Car and Driver picked the Mustang Mach-E as the 2021 EV of the Year. While the vehicle recently passed the Michigan state police pursuit rating test, the vehicle has not yet been tested in the state of Massachusetts. For this reason, the vehicle cannot be used on patrol and instead will be used for administrative duties. However, the vehicle will be marked so residents can identify the new quiet addition on the streets!
