On June 30th, together with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) we held the first Climate Action Workshop! We had over 60 participants. It was so nice seeing many of your faces across the Zoom room (though I wish we could have seen you all in person).
We asked participants to write a postcard from their future self to gather input on their vision for Acton. The specific prompt was:
The year is 2040 and you are writing a postcard from your future self to your current self in 2021. What happened in 2030? And what does Acton look like now in 2040?
Below is a summary of the key terms that emerged across the various postcards. On the first two columns are the types of actions and results participants hope to see in Acton. The right-hand column shows a list of concerns around the impacts of climate change.
There were also six breakout room discussions. To get a snapshot of the inputs from the Jam Board overview here.
Missed out on our first workshop?
If you missed the event and would like a full re-cap you can watch the recording here or view the Powerpoint presentation here.
There are still be plenty of opportunities to be involved in the process! In addition to attending the community-wide workshop in person in the fall (date will be announced soon!), there are two ways fellow Actonians can engage in the process in the coming month:
1. Please take 10-15 minutes to fill out the community-wide survey on climate and sustainability: here.
2. Tell us how you would like to be involved! Please fill out this form: here.
Looking forward to seeing many of you at our future events!
