Bellows Farm Mill Dam Removal & Carlisle Road Bridge Replacement – Virtual Public Workshop #1

January 15th at 5:30pm

Acton Town News Posted on December 17, 2025

The Town of Acton is kicking off the removal of the Bellows Farm Mill dam and replacement of the Carlisle Road bridge. The Town will host the first public workshop for the project on Thursday, January 15 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Scan the QR code to visit the  project website and register for the event to receive meeting details.

The Bellows Farm Mill dam must either be repaired or removed to meet Massachusetts Office of Dam Safety standards and a recent inspection found the Carlisle Road bridge to be undersized and in poor condition. The proposed project will address the unsafe conditions of these two structures, reduce flood risk, and provide ecological benefits such as improved fish passage, enhanced wetlands, and restored perennial stream corridor. Addressing both the Bellows Farm Mill Dam and Carlisle Road bridge will improve safety and resilience along the Nashoba Brook corridor.

The Town of Acton is working with SLR Consulting to prepare preliminary designs and conduct pre-permitting coordination for the dam removal and bridge replacement. During the workshop, SLR will provide an overview of the project, followed by a Q&A session. We hope to gather feedback on design preferences to maximize project benefits, understand how people currently use the site, and discuss potential impacts on the surrounding area.

If you have any questions or comments, please reach out to Corey York at engineering@actonma.gov or Noah Slovin at nslovin@slrconsulting.com. You can find additional project details on the Project Website.
