Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP)
What is an Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP)?
An Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP) is a document that outlines a community's goals, policies, and strategies for the preservation, development, and management of open space and recreational resources in Acton. Every 7 years, the Town updates this document through community and committee input. An Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP) is important for several reasons, as it plays a crucial role in establishing goals and priorities that guide the sustainable development of communities and enhancing the quality of life for their residents. The OSRP makes the Town of Acton eligible for various state funded grants.
The Town of Acton 2024-2031 Open Space and Recreation Plan was approved by the State of Massachusetts in December 2024.
Process for 2024-2031 Open Space and Recreation Plan
A community survey was conducted in early 2022 to help identify the priorities of the town as it relates to open space and recreation; the results of this survey can be found here.
In November 2022 a public forum was held to present the survey results and gather more feedback from the community in order to begin forming the goals and objectives for the updated plan.
To finalize the goals, sub-goals, action items and parcel prioritization the OSRP working group hosted a virtual public meeting in December of 2023. The recording of the public meeting can be viewed by clicking here and the goals, sub-goals, action items and parcel prioritization can be found on Docushare by clicking here.
