[ARCHIVED] Press Release: Acton Police Release Surveillance Video In Relation to Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash

ACTON — Police Chief Richard Burrows and the Acton Police Department are asking the public for assistance as they work to identify a vehicle that struck and seriously injured a 13-year-old pedestrian in a crosswalk on Great Road. As part of their ongoing investigation, Acton Police obtained video surveillance from a local business and wish to share that footage with the public, in the hope that someone might recognize the vehicle involved.

Police are interested in any information the public has on a sedan seen passing through the area, and a dark-colored sport utility vehicle that passed through a short time earlier.

On Wednesday, Nov. 2, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Acton Police and Fire received a 911 call reporting a crash involving a pedestrian in the area of Great Road near Harris Street.

First responders arrived to find a juvenile male suffering from serious injuries, and provided immediate medical aid. The juvenile, 13, was transported by an Acton Fire ambulance to the Wetherbee Street fields and then flown to a Boston-area hospital via medical helicopter, where he is in critical but stable condition as of Wednesday afternoon.

The initial on-scene investigation indicates that the juvenile was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in the crosswalk. The vehicle involved fled the scene. The crash remains under investigation by Acton Police, with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.

Anyone with information on this incident, or information on the vehicle involved, is asked to call Acton Police at 978-929-7711.
