[ARCHIVED] Acton Water Main Upgrades - Service Outage

Town Seal 300dpi Trans NoAlias

There will be a service outage on Main Street/Post Office Square on Thursday, September 3rd at 7:00 PM.

To support work associated with the construction of the new Central Acton Water Treatment Plant (CAWTP), it is necessary to shut down water service to a portion of Main Street and all of Post Office Square to connect a new 12” water pipe to the existing 12” water pipe in Main Street at the PO Square intersection. This new pipe will be the new filtered water supply from the CAWTP upon commissioning.  This work will commence on Thursday, 9/3 at around 7 PM, and will proceed until complete, sometime that night, possibly, into the early morning of Friday, 9/4, if necessary.  This work is being done at night to minimize traffic impacts on Main Street and Post Office Square (Access to the Main Post Office), and to minimize impacts of the service outage on customers..  After restoration of the pipe to service, there may be discolored water in the vicinity of Main Street into North Acton near the Rt 119/2A-Great Road intersection, and into Acton Center near Town Hall and its vicinity, and intersecting roads.  This should dissipate in 12-24 hrs.  We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
